On behalf of the Hellenic School Committee we would like to wish the members of the Hellenic Community of Pretoria a blessed and prosperous new year! I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment in 2015.

The school has successfully hosted a number of functions over the year and will continue to do so in 2016 in order to raise supplementary funding for our Greek school. Please support these events which will be posted on our events calendar. We start off the year with the Agiasmo on Friday 15th January with the blessing from the priest at 16:30. Food, beverage and a jumping castle will be available for the children from 15:30.

The New Year’s event 2015/2016 was very successful even more so than the previous year. Thank you to all who attended and supported the New Year’s function and to all those who were involved in organizing the event. As you are aware funds raised are allocated to the school in order to supplement the financial shortfall of the running expenses of the school.

School fees for 2016 will increase by 10% to R3300.00 for qualified members and R4000.00 other members and non-members.  Payments received by 29 February 2016 are eligible for a 10% discount, so please pay your school fees early to take advantage of this saving.

We welcome the teachers back from the December holidays and wish them a prosperous 2016. Our teachers have committed to providing termly feedback to parents on the progress of their child / children on a termly bases. Teachers will inform the parents closer to the end of each term when and where the parents / teacher meetings will take place and present a roster with timeslots for each child.

We trust that through our mutual commitment to the Hellenic Community of Pretoria by committing our children to learning the Greek Language, by attending Greek school and socializing with fellow Hellenic scholars at the various functions, we will strengthen our community in 2016 and into the future.

Xronia Polla,

Spiro Sdralis
HCP School Committee Chairman
